D&D Swatchbook

Redesigning something as classic as Dungeons & Dragons is no easy challenge, but as an avid tabletop gaming enthusiast, this was a challenge I couldn’t pass up. D&D monster manuals are notoriously dense, with tons of rules, lore and character sheets, making them particularly unwieldly on cramped gaming tables.

My redesign of these manuals focuses on condensing all the important information into a Swatchbook style design, allowing monsters to be searchable by their colour palette. This was found to be fairly intuitive for D&D players, with obvious colour associations based on common monster tropes, i.e. Fire monsters are red, Ice monsters are blue. The swatchbook “leaves” are also detachable, so dungeon masters can plan for their next session without needing the entire book.
